Pest Control Brisbane - ants closeup

How to keep your home pest free?

If there’s one thing every homeowner or renter has nightmares about, it is common household creepy, crawly pests.

Especially in the warm humid weather of Queensland, it is difficult to keep troublesome spiders, termites, cockroaches, silverfish, rodents and another thousand odd pests out.

Pest management should be the top priority for homeowners in regards to health, safety and hygiene.

There is no guaranteed method to keep pests and insects out of your home at all costs, but there are several preventive measures that can be undertaken:

1) First things first:

If you suspect, you have a pest problem, it is best to call the pest control professionals in. Preventive measures will not work if you already suspect you have pests on your premises.
Pest control professionals will come in and inspect your property, decide a plan of action depending on the pests on site.

2) Do not leave food exposed:

Who does not love a good snack? Well, pests are no different. Keep your food under wraps at all times. Be it everyday confectioneries such as salt, sugar and other spices, your half-eaten meals or even your pet food. If it cannot be sealed and put away. Ensure that it has been covered. Always wash dirty dishes and keep kitchen counters clean.

3) Regular home cleaning is essential:

Clean your home regularly with a disinfectant. Pests usually reside in places that are dirty and cluttered, if your home is tidy and organised they have nowhere to hide. Thus, reducing the chances of bacteria and allergens building up as well.

4) Keep your garden tidy:

Gardens definitely add a fresh element to one’s home. This beautiful place of relaxation if not maintained well attracts a lot of pests. Most common pests in homes with gardens are rodents and termites.

Rodents carry diseases ranging from basic infections and allergies to serious, life-threatening diseases such as typhoid and rabies. Although termites look harmless they can cause serious structural damage.

5) Set up regularly scheduled pest inspections:

The term ” better safe than sorry” applies perfectly here. It is best to stay cautious and schedule regular pest inspections, as professional pest management agencies know the tell-tale signs and are equipped with the right tools to manage the issue. This is an affordable way to keep your premises pest free and save yourself money in the long run.
